WILDFLOWERS BLOOMING IN JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

The spring blooms are on display at Joshua Tree National Park. Park Ranger Pam Tripp has more… To everyone’s delight, our spring bloom has begun in the south end of the park. Cottonwood and surrounding areas are alive with lupines, bladderpod, chuperosa, and various other types and colors of wildflowers. As the weather gets warmer, blooms have begun blooming toward the north side of the park. Come see the Joshua Trees currently in bloom. Look for patches of blooms along roadside, in washes, or tucked up close to rock bases where rain has dripped and pooled. Also, look in shady places during the hot days. These little nooks and crannies provide excellent spots for the little rainfall that falls on our desert. The spring bloom displays a variety of shapes, sizes and colors that are a visual feast for our eyes. But for the animals that depend on the blooms as a food source, it is a virtual feast, rather than famine. Call the visitor center at 760-367-5522 for more information about our desert wildflowers, or check out our wildflower report at www.nps.gov/jotr. For: Copper Mt. Broadcasting Z107.7 this is Park Ranger Pam Tripp, encouraging you to visit your neighborhood national park.
