WHITE SUPREMACY LITERATURE LEFT AT JOSHUA TREE BUSINESSES

A few small businesses in Joshua Tree opened their doors to an unpleasant surprise yesterday morning, sparking outrage and confusion. Reporter Cassidy Zimarik brings us the details

Before the sun rose on Boo’s Organic Oven on Thursday morning, a man approached the business and dropped off a newspaper called The Crusader and other literature in support of white supremacy, the KKK, and stopping what it claims are programs of genocide against white children.

The same morning, a Black Lives Matter sign outside of Beatnik Café was also vandalized. The sign was installed July 6 in coordination with the café, Teddy Quinn, and the Democrats of the Morongo Basin.

In a press release, the Democrats of the Morongo Basin stated, “We understand that some people in the Morongo Basin choose to hate some other people. We cannot change this. What we are working to change is the public behavior.”

Other businesses in Joshua Tree that received the same literature include Royal Siam Restaurant and Joshua Tree Rock Shop.

In response to the literature left, a representative from Boo’s Organic Oven said, “We stand together as a community against all racism and hate.”

Both the vandalism and the literature were reported to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
