    Event Description: The first annual Spring Art and Craft Faire at the historic 29 Palms Art Gallery will feature 30 artisans with a large assortment of artwork and high-end crafts. Located just off National Park Drive in 29 Palms, the event is free and family friendly. The Faire will appeal to art collectors and casual shoppers. Painting, photography, pottery, fiber arts, and jewelry are just some of the artwork visitors will find. Some participating artists, have never before shown in Morongo Valley. Come and buy direct from the artists, and ask questions about their creative process. The more one knows about an artist and their style, the more likely you will appreciate your purchase or even become a collector. Visitors are invited to walk the grounds, view the artwork, and then relax in the shade of towering palms. Food will be available for purchase. The 29 Palms Art Gallery will be open, showcasing the Annual Member’s Show for visitor’s enjoyment.

    USDA FOOD DISTRIBUTION IN WONDER VALLEY

    Event Time: 9 a.m. – Noon

    Event Description: The USDA Food Distribution will begin at 9:00 a.m. on TUESDAY, March 17, at the Wonder Valley Community Center, 80526-½ Amboy Road, Wonder Valley CA 92277. The Community Center is next to the Fire Station. The event continues until noon, or until the food runs out, which has been happening lately, about 10:30 or 11:00 a.m.

    Low income Wonder Valley residents self-certify on site. No ID or other documentation is required. You may pick up ONE (1) box for a neighbor, or they may pick up ONE (1) box for you, IF a signed pick up form is presented. One pick up per person. Pick up forms are available online at http://tinyurl.com/wv-pickup-form. They are also available at the WVCC on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., and at the kiosk outside the WVCC the week before the event.

    HI-NOON MUSEUM LECTURE “MAMMALS OF JOSHUA TREE”

    Mammals of Joshua Tree: Some research, some management and plenty cute!

    In this lecture Michael Vamstad will share the current status of Joshua Tree National Park’s mammal population in comparison to the 1930s to 50s Grinnell inventory study on JTNP fauna. Have climate change and/or tourism shown any effects on mammal populations? Michael will share some of his research and explain how management can help animals in a busy National Park.

    Wildlife Ecologist Michael Vamstad has been working at Joshua Tree National Park since 2004. While working for the National Park Service, Michael has been involved with many aspects of natural resource management including desert tortoise research, fire ecology research, creating management plans, coordinating compliance activities and reviewing research applications. He has authored and co-authored Professional journal articles on fire ecology, climate change monitoring strategies and climate change effects on desert plants and animals.

    Bring your friends, or just bring yourself to our Lecture Series once a month. Speakers will present topics of special interest for high desert residents. The lectures start at 12:00 p.m. Admission is $5 or free for Museum Members/Sponsors. Beverages will be served.

    Event Description: Dear Community Partner,

    The Basin Wide Foundation (BWF) is preparing for our 6th Annual Golf Tournament scheduled for Friday, March 27, 2020.

    We are excited to announce that this event will take place at our own local Hawk’s Landing Golf Club. This event will once again be a big hit for our community, particularly for residents who enjoy the game. It’s a time to meet with old friends and make new friends in a setting that encourages community support. The Basin Wide Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is seeking opportunities to strengthen non-profit organizations and improving the quality of life in our community.

    The BWF also supports affiliate programs including: Morongo Basin Haven, Miracle League of the Desert, Waste Not Morongo Basin, Youth Sports Coalition and Dreams for Kids. We cannot do it without your support. This event helps us raise funds and have a good time.

    You can help by participating in the BWF Golf Tournament as a player, a sponsor, or donating prizes for our golfers. Here are some of the opportunities:

    Tournament Sponsor $1,000 – Receive a banner promoting your business, a foursome for the tournament, a tee sign, marketing and advertising prior to and during the tournament, breakfast and lunch at the tournament, and an invitation for four additional staff members for the luncheon & awards ceremony.

    Team Sponsor $400 – Receive a foursome for the tournament, a tee sign, and sponsorship announcements for the tournament.
