WE CLARIFY A STORY ABOUT A MORONGO VALLEY CSD LAWSUIT

A story that Z107-7 was running about a Morongo Valley lawsuit was pulled two weeks ago after new facts about the case came to light. With a clarification, here is reporter Mike Lipsitz…
On July 25, Z107.7 News ran an abbreviated story on a wrongful termination lawsuit in Morongo Valley. In the story, we reported that former Morongo Valley firefighter Chris Perez is seeking damages against the Morongo Valley Fire Department, Community Services District, former CSD General Manager Meg Foley and former CSD Board President Chuck Osborne. After our report, new information was brought to our attention and the story was pulled. To clarify, in 2011 the complaint was filed, as we reported; however, court action since has resulted in major revisions, some 95 in total, including three entire refilings to date. Allegations against Osborne have been dropped, allegations against Foley have been sharply narrowed, and all punitive damages have been dismissed. Z107.7 News apologizes for any misunderstandings and regrets any inconvenience resulting from our airing of the story. The case is still active and reliable sources have indicated a fourth amended complaint may soon be filed. Z107.7 News has been hampered in obtaining facts because none of the principals, attorneys, or agencies involved would speak to us. We will continue to follow this case as it makes its way through the court system.
