VOLUNTEERS POUR CONCRETE FOR ADA-COMPLIANT PARKING SPACES AT SKY’S THE LIMIT

Sky’s the Limit just completed a major project to make its grounds accessible to people of all abilities. Managing editor Tami Roleff says it required the efforts of volunteers throughout the community…

Twenty yards of concrete were poured into place by 10 volunteers at Sky’s the Limit Observatory and Nature Center recently. Working as a well-choreographed team led by Bob Carter, the morning’s intense work resulted in parking slabs for four vehicles and one van. This was the final step in making the Observatory’s programs fully accessible to persons using wheelchairs and walkers. The project pulled together individuals from businesses and organizations throughout the community. A list of the volunteers and businesses who helped with the project can be seen with this story at Z1077fm.com.

In addition to Bob Carter, Paul and Brandon Androshak, Larry Bowden, Kevin Cole, Jim Krushat, Danny Mintz, Mike Mintz, Les Snodgrass, and Jim Wheeler generously donated their time and skills.

Jim Brakebill, Chief of Fire Training at the Copper Mountain College Fire Technology Club, arrived on site early with Engine No. 1 to prep the ground with 1,000 gallons of water. Not far behind was the first of two loads of concrete, generously provided by Jon Hove, President & CEO of Hi-Grade Materials Company.
