Victims of Sunday’s Crash in Joshua Tree Died Monday

The two people critically injured in the suspected DUI crash in Joshua Tree Sunday evening have died. The Riverside County Coroner’s office have identified the victims as Dr. Lonnie Tiner, 80, and his wife, Patricia, 76, both of Twentynine Palms. They were pronounced dead at 11:45 and 11:35 a.m. Monday. Mariah Natividad, 21, of Twentynine Palms, is suspected of driving under the influence when her Toyota Prius hit the Tiner’s Ford F-150 truck from behind about 9:15 p.m. Sunday, sending it into the desert and causing it to roll over several times. CHP Officer Joan Griffin said that Mariah Natividad not only faces felony DUI charges, but manslaughter charges as well. She is being held in the Morongo Basin Jail with an increased bail of $250,000 and will be arraigned in Joshua Tree Superior Court Tuesday.
