VICTIM IN HIT-AND-RUN IN MORONGO VALLEY IDENTIFIED

The California Highway Patrol has identified the victim of a hit-and-run in Morongo Valley Saturday night. Lamar Sanders, 20, of Yucca Valley was found lying in a fetal position on Senilis Avenue east of Mescalero at 11:05. Sanders, who had suffered major injuries and was unconscious when CHP and paramedics arrived, appeared to have been hit by an unknown vehicle and dragged about 50 feet. Lamar Sanders was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs where he remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit. The CHP is still searching for the driver and vehicle involved.
