The Department of the Interior announced recently that entrance fees for national parks, and standard amenity fees for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, and the Bureau of Reclamation sites will be waived as of November 11 for veterans and Gold Star families. Veterans are defined as anyone who has served in the U.S. armed forces, including the National Guard and the Reserves, and who has a DOD ID card, veteran health ID card, veteran ID card, or a veteranā€™s designation on a state-issued US driverā€™s license or ID card.Gold Star families are next of kin of a family member of the U.S. armed forces who died while serving in a conflict. Active-duty military members already qualify for free passes to national parks. Free or discounted passes are available for the disabled; fourth grade students, and seniors age 62 or older. In addition, entrance fees to national parks, including Joshua Tree National Park, are waived for everyone on Veterans Day, November 11.
