UPDATE ON COUNTY’S COVID-19 CASES

UPDATED 11:45 a.m. Wednesday with more information about the number of cases in Joshua Tree

San Bernardino County’s novel coronavirus cases ticked up by 17 as an additional death was reported, according to data released Tuesday evening. There are 547 cases of COVID-19 in the county, up from the 530 reported Monday. Seventeen people have now died from the disease. In the Morongo Basin, the County lists one confirmed case in Joshua Tree and three in Yucca Valley. There were two confirmed cases in Joshua Tree Tuesday. A spokeswoman with the County Public Health Department told Z107.7 News that the change to two cases on Tuesday must have been a mistake, as they don’t change the number of cases if a patient died.

Of the 6,368 people tested for COVID-19 in the county, 8.6 percent had positive results, the county’s data show. Of those who tested positive, 51.8 percent are male, 48 percent are female and .2 percent were unknown. Most of the cases, 230, were among people 18 to 49 years old, while 171 were 50 to 64 years old, 139 were older than 65 and six were 2 to 17 years old, according to the county.
