TWO TWENTYNINE PALMS MEN HELD AFTER THEFT FROM HOME DEPOT

Two Twentynine Palms men were arrested, after they tried to steal flooring from Home Depot. According to a Sheriff’s report, Daryll Speer, 22, and a woman are remodeling their home in the 5900 block of Baileya and had torn up their floor. They contacted Thomas Higgins, 34, and asked him to give them a ride to Home Depot in Yucca Valley Saturday. Once there, the woman went into the store and loaded about a dozen boxes of flooring onto a cart, and then walked out shortly before 10 p.m. without paying for them. When the woman was confronted by store employees, she allegedly called Speer and Higgins who were still inside the store, and the three of them fled before deputies arrived. A deputy stopped Higgins’ vehicle later than night near Sage Avenue and Highway 62. The store manager positively identified the suspects, and the deputy found six boxes of flooring in Speer’s home. Daryll Speer and Thomas Higgins were arrested for investigation of conspiracy, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with their bail set at $25,000 each. The woman was released to paramedics due to medical problems, and taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment.
