TWO KILLED IN TWO FATAL CRASHES THURSDAY NIGHT

Two people were killed Thursday night in two separate traffic crashes. At 8:41 p.m., a bicyclist, riding the wrong way against traffic on westbound Valle Vista, just east of Condor Road in Twentynine Palms, was struck and killed by a vehicle. The names of the driver and the bicyclist have not been released yet by the California Highway Patrol.

Then, at 10:15 p.m., Christopher Hannon, 22, of Yucca Valley, was driving his 2010 Dodge Charger westbound on Highway 62 in the number 2 lane, just east of Wamego Trail, when for unknown reasons, he rear-ended a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, also traveling westbound on the highway in the number 2 lane.

The motorcycle rider was thrown onto the car’s windshield, and was carried on top of the car until the car crashed into and brought down a power pole near the Wamego intersection, at which time the rider was thrown off the car. Both the car and the rider came to rest in front of the Hideaway Stitchery building, while the motorcycle continued on in the number 2 lane for about another 75 feet before falling over in front of the collective car lot. The causes of both crashes are under investigation.
