TWO ARRESTED ON CHARGES FROM BLOODY KNIFE FIGHT IN LANDERS LAST MONTH

A man and his mother were arrested Thursday, November 2, after a bloody knife fight in Landers last month. Deborah King, 51, called Sheriff’s deputies October 19 to the 800 block of Ducor Avenue when an argument between her son, Cory McGilloway, 28, and Kenneth Cook and Christopher Cook, turned violent. The Cooks and McGilloway all suffered multiple stab wounds and they were all taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. The district attorney’s office issued a warrant October 26 for the arrest of Cory McGilloway for two counts of attempted murder, and for Deborah King for assault with a firearm. They were taken into custody about noon Thursday during a traffic stop near their home at Ducor and Reche Road in Landers. McGilloway and King pleaded not guilty in Joshua Tree Superior Court Friday, November 3. Cory McGilloway is being held at West Valley Detention Center on $2 million bail; Deborah King is being held on $400,000 bail.
