TWO ACCUSED OF CONSPIRING TO STEAL FROM WAL-MART

Two Yucca Valley men were arrested Thursday, accused of conspiring to steal from Walmart. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy was called to Walmart about 5 p.m. for a report that a man, later identified as Brian Laufer, 35, was in the store and cutting open packages of X-box controllers and concealing them. The report states the deputy saw Laufer use his phone, then leave the store, and get into a vehicle driven by Paul Ray, 22. The deputy stopped the vehicle and found the game controllers, video games, and aluminum foil inside the car. Laufer allegedly admitted to the deputy that he stole the foil and had asked Ray to drive him to Walmart. A search of Laufer’s phone revealed text messages between Laufer and Ray about where they should meet outside the store. Brian Laufer and Paul Ray were arrested for investigation of conspiracy, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, and released.
