TWENTYNINE PALMS WATER DISTRICT ELECTION RESULTS, MORONGO VALLEY CSD TOO CLOSE TO CALL

The San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters released the first tally of votes for the mail election concluded yesterday. The totals include ballots received in the mail through Election Day. In the Morongo Valley Community Services District voting, with three seats up for grabs, the leading vote getter was Karen Lowe with about 22 percent of the vote, followed by Kristina Brook, Jack Cunningham, and Gayle Swarat, each with about 18 percent of the votes, too close to call with only seven votes separating the second and fourth leading vote-getters. Glen Shepherd and William Trowbridge bring up the rear with less than 14 percent and 11 percent of the vote, respectively. Votes counted so far represent an approximate turnout of about 30 percent. Ballots dropped off on Election Day will be included in an updated count to be announced Thursday afternoon The remaining ballots could make a difference in the Morongo Valley race.

In the election for three seats on the Twentynine Palms Water District—clear winners. Incumbent Chancey Chambers led with almost 31 percent of the votes, followed by Suzi Horn with about 27 percent and incumbent Roger Shinaver with more than 23 percent Paul Hornback and Judy Hinson were out of the running, with less than 10 percent each. The approximate voter turnout was about 18 percent.
