TWENTYNINE PALMS WATER BOARD MEETS ON WATER AND THE FINAL FIRE BUSINESS MEETING

The Twentynine Palms Water Board meets in regular session tonight. A proposed budget, water plans and a commendation are all on the agenda. Reporter Mike Lipsitz notes tonight will also be the last time they conduct any fire department business…
At tonight’s meeting of the Twentynine Palms Water District the board will hold a public hearing, then vote on proposed standby charges, unchanged from the current fiscal year. That charge is labeled “Water Availability Assessment” on property tax bills. Also tonight, the board is expected to approve a proposed budget and compensation plan for the coming fiscal year. And among the remaining items on tonight’s agenda, directors will consider approval of the district’s Urban Water Management Plan, presumably revised following public comments. And finally, the board will offer a commendation to Fire Chief Jim Thompson for more than 20 years of public service in the district. Then following a brief break, the board will consider routine items related to the fire department, likely for the last time since transfer to County Fire appears set for July 1. Tonight’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the District Office on the south side of Hatch Road in Twentynine Palms.
