TWENTYNINE PALMS U-TURN CRASH SENDS THREE TO THE HOSPITAL

A Twentynine Palms man who tried to make a U-turn on Adobe Road is believed to be responsible for a crash that sent three people to the hospital Wednesday afternoon. According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Yost, Lewis Roller, 91, was driving a 2000 silver Suzuki Grand Vitara northbound on Adobe Road about 4:30 p.m. when he made a hard left turn at Smith’s Ranch Road. Yost said Roller turned in front of Destiny Truitt-Storey, 22, of Yucca Valley, crashing head on into her southbound 2005 gold Kia Rio. Truitt-Storey had to be cut out of her car with the Jaws of Life. She was flown by Mercy Air to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Truitt-Storey’s passenger, Mariah Butler, 20, and Louis Roller, both suffered minor scratches and bruises, and were taken to Desert Hospital. Adobe Road was closed and traffic was detoured while the Sheriff’s Department investigated the crash.
