TWENTYNINE PALMS PLANNING COMMISSION TO TAKE UP ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS

The Twentynine Palms Planning Commission meets tonight. Sara Snyder reports on what’s on tonight’s agenda…

Up for discussion at tonight’s regular meeting of the Twentynine Palms Planning Commission is a development code amendment for accessory dwelling units or ADUs. Last year, the state adopted regulations that requires local jurisdictions to allow ADUs on single-family, multi-family, or mixed-use properties, provided that basic building standards are met. ADUs are secondary dwelling units which have cooking facilities, their own access, and are on the same parcel as the main living quarters. The planning commission will then forward its recommendations for amendments to the development code to the city council for adoption.
