TWENTYNINE PALMS’ PIONEER DAYS PLANNING MEETING WEDNESDAY

Yes, we are in the dog days of summer, but it’s never too early to think about Pioneer Days in Twentynine Palms, set for October 19-22. A planning session for residents who want to help with Pioneer Days is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, at the Twentynine Palms Elks Lodge. Committees will be set up for events such as the Little Miss and Master competitions, the parade, and more. The official kick-off event for Pioneer Days is set for Friday, September 15, at the Bowladium, starting at 5:30 p.m. The theme for 2017 is “On the Frontier.” This year’s grand marshals will be introduced, and there will be barbecue, live music, vendors, and raffles. Pioneer Days buttons will go on sale, and it’s also the launch of the friendly competition for “Judge” and “Sheriff.” For more information, call the Chamber of Commerce at 760-367-3445.
