TWENTYNINE PALMS MARINE, PALM DESERT WOMAN, FATAL CRASH VICTIMS

The County Coroner has identified two women, one from Palm Desert and the other a Marine from the Twentynine Palms Marine Base, who were killed Sunday night in a head-on collision on Highway 62. Niccole Holly, 31, and Amelia Miller, 23, were pronounced dead at the scene of the 10 p.m. crash; neither vehicle had passengers. Witnesses said Miller, a Marine lance corporal assigned to G-4 Logistics at Headquarters Battalion, was speeding and driving recklessly as she headed east in a 2009 Ford. She crossed over the center line at North Star Trail in Morongo Valley and collided head-on with Holly, a massage therapist, who was driving west in a 2004 Dodge, according to the California Highway Patrol.
