TWENTYNINE PALMS MARINE BASE ISSUES MASK ORDER

The commanding general of the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center issued an order Tuesday that all military personnel and civilians are required to wear cloth face coverings on the base when they cannot maintain six feet of social distance in public areas, such as the exchanges, commissary, mess halls, and businesses. The requirement to wear face coverings in the workplace depends on whether a six-foot distance can be maintained. In addition, Marines and their family members are encouraged to wear cloth face coverings in their barracks and family housing. Children under 2 years of age and those who have trouble breathing are exempt from wearing face coverings. People without face masks will be turned away from base facilities. Acceptable face coverings include CIF-issued balaclava and neck gaiters, and uniform green T-shirt. Full masks, surgical or N-95 masks, or coverings with demeaning or derogatory logos or profanity, are not authorized.
