TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN WHO CRASHES PROM AFTER-PARTY ARRESTED FOR DUI

A Twentynine Palms man who showed up to a prom after-party late Saturday night was arrested after he crashed into multiple vehicles at the party. Students were holding a spur-of-the-moment Prom after-party at a home in the 60800 block of Meliz Road in Landers when James Schutte, 28, showed up, uninvited. Witnesses said that Schutte was heavily intoxicated. When Schutte was told to leave because it was a high school party, he became argumentative and allegedly pulled out a knife. The students threw rocks at Schutte to get him to leave, and when he got into his vehicle, he sideswiped multiple cars. James Schutte was arrested for investigation of misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and released Monday afternoon.
