TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN DEFIES RESTRAINING ORDER IN FELONY SPOUSE ABUSE

A Twentynine Palms man who was on felony probation for spouse abuse, and who had a restraining order filed against him, was arrested Sunday, accused of spousal abuse. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called to a home in the 71600 block of Cactus Drive in Twentynine Palms about 3:30 a.m. Deputies determined Dezell Carroll, 28, got into an argument with a woman and hit her with a shoe before grabbing her by the arms, giving her bruises and a laceration. Dezell Carroll was arrested for investigation of felony spouse abuse, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000. In April, Carroll pleaded guilty to spouse abuse, and agreed to enter a one-year domestic batterer’s program, one year in jail on a work-release program, and three years’ probation.
