TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ARRESTED FOR SECOND TIME FOR VEHICLE THEFT, FELONY EVADING

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested for the second time since December, accused of stealing a vehicle and fleeing from Sheriff’s deputies in it. About 12:30 p.m. Thursday, a deputy spotted a man riding a 1998 Honda motorcycle with no license plate in the desert near Encelia Avenue and Highway 62 and attempted a traffic stop. The rider, later identified as Jeremy Shannon, 27, fled, but was later detained. Jeremy Shannon was arrested for investigation of felony evading, possession of explosives, possession of a stolen vehicle, and on his warrants for his previous vehicle theft and felony evading; and was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $500,000. Shannon was convicted in February of stealing a Jeep Renegade and fleeing from deputies. A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to complete his drug court program.
