TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ACCUSED OF TRYING TO STAB 2 PEOPLE

A 72-year-old Twentynine Palms man was arrested Tuesday, accused of trying to stab two people. According to a Sheriff’s report, Daniel Bustamante called for a cab to bring him home from a Twentynine Palms bar. Bustamante and another patron got in the cab; during the drive, Bustamante became violent and attempted to stab the other patron with a pencil. The cabdriver stopped the car and everyone got out, at which time, Bustamante allegedly pulled out a box cutter from his pocket and swung it at the cab driver. Daniel Bustamante was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
