TWENTYNINE PALMS HISTORICAL SOCIETY SELECTS NEW DIRECTORS

The Twentynine Palms Historical Society appointed its officers and recognized a new board member at its monthly meeting Thursday, January 8. By unanimous vote, Les Snodgrass will serve another year as the society’s president, and long-serving treasurer Nolan Lockwood will remain at the books. Greg Mendoza was appointed vice president; Jimmy Biggerstaff moves from the vice-president spot to recording secretary. Snodgrass recognized new board member John Steiner and presented him with his official name tag. Marilyn Collier will continue as accessions chair and Cheryl Erickson as corresponding secretary. The Historical Society’s goals for 2015 include addition of a multipurpose room, increased membership, and scanning and cataloging photo negatives and slides in the museum’s archives. Several volunteer opportunities are available for people interested in learning more about the history and people of Twentynine Palms.
