TWENTYNINE PALMS HIGH SCHOOL GOLF IN DEANZA LEAGUE FINALS

The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcats golf team participated Tuesday in the De Anza league finals. The seven teams in the league gathered at Rancho Mirage to compete for individual honors, and to decide which of the three co-championship teams would represent the league at the CIF team championships. Coach Gary Bell said at the end of regular-season, Twentynine Palms was tied with Rancho Mirage and Yucca Valley for first place. In a playoff, Rancho Mirage had the lowest nine-hole score at 220, with Twentynine Palms in 2nd with a 236, and Yucca Valley and third with the 240. Rancho Mirage will represent the league in the CIF team championships. Individually, Twentynine Palms player Justin Delarosa sits in third place with a score of 85, heading into the second day of the finals. Yucca Valley’s Jared Lindley is in first place with an impressive score of 76 on the first day. Another standout on the team was Jace Hope with a 91, who is tied for seventh. The second day of the finals will be limited to the top 20 finishers from the first day. Four Twentynine Palms players will return for the second day of the DeAnza League finals to be held at Desert Dunes Golf Course in Desert Hot Springs Thursday.
