TWENTYNINE PALMS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL IN 1ST ROUND CIF PLAYOFF GAME TONIGHT

The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat football team will make its 15th play-off appearance tonight (Thursday, November 9) when they travel to Apple Valley to play the number-one ranked Division 10 team, the Sun Devils. Apple Valley is 10-and-0 in overall play; the Wildcats are 7-and-3. This is the second time in two seasons that the Wildcats are playing the number one seed. Last year, they traveled to Anaheim to play Katella High School, and defeated the Knights to advance into the CIF semi-finals. Twentynine Palms High School is the only DeAnza League team that is competing in the Division 10 playoff bracket, as Coachella Valley and Rancho Mirage High Schools have been moved into the Division 11 bracket this year.
Apple Valley and Twentynine Palms both average about 400 yards per game on offense, although the Sun Devils average 42 points per game to the Wildcats’ 36 points per game. The only opponent they have in common is Granite Hills High School. Twentynine Palms defeated the Cougars 55-13, while Apple Valley won their contest 60-7.
Tonight’s game starts at 7 p.m. in Apple Valley.
