TWENTYNINE PALMS DUI SUSPECT TRIES TO RUN

About 10 am on Thursday morning, on Adobe Road at Gorgonio in Twentynine Palms, John William Holbert, 28, of Twentynine Palms, driving a 1996 Pontiac sedan, rear-ended Teri Templeton, 46, of Yucca Valley, in her 2012 Jeep. After the collision, witnesses were trying to help Holbert get out of his car. When he got out of the car, he took off running to the east across a field. He was caught by Deputy Ables and was brought back to the scene. Teri Templeton complained of a slight pain in her head, but refused treatment. John William Holbert was taken to the Naval Hospital after complaining of pain to his chest. He had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. A blood sample was taken for evidence. A report will be sent to the District Attorney for charges of DUI/Hit and Run.
