TWENTYNINE PALMS CITY COUNCIL MEETS: CARGO CONTAINERS AND CHURCHES

The Twentynine Palms City Council meets tonight with an agenda that could potentially give residents more places to put their stuff and more places to pray. It could also cost them more money. Reporter David Haldane explains…
Sea-going cargo containers and places of worship top tonight’s Twentynine Palms City Council agenda. Specifically, a public hearing on whether to modify the city’s development code to allow both. After being inadvertently omitted from the code adopted last year, the change has been discussed by the Planning Commission so now it’s the Council’s turn to take a whack.
In other matters, the Council will consider establishing a tourism business improvement district – including assessments – to attract more visitors, as well as receive the city’s preliminary budget for the next two years.
Tonight’s meeting gets underway 6 p.m. in the Council chambers on Adobe Road.
