TWENTYNINE PALMS ART GALLERY BURGLARIZED

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a burglary at the 29 Palms Art Gallery early Friday morning. The burglary was discovered Friday morning when volunteers arrived to open the gallery. Damage of the historic art gallery, which stands at the corner of Cottonwood Drive and National Park Drive in Twentynine Palms, includes several broken windows, a smashed sliding glass door, broken display cases, and stolen items from the gift shop, including jewelry and cash. Fortunately, the artwork on display in the gallery was untouched, and the gallery remains open for visitors. The gallery expects to incur considerable costs as it installs an enhanced security system, and means to protect windows and doors. Residents who would like to contribute toward the gallery’s costs can make a donation at 29palmsartgallery.com/donate.
