TOWN RELEASES TOWN MANAGER “IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL” TERMS

On Friday, the Town of Yucca Valley released the proposed separation agreement for Town Manager Mark Nuaimi, which will be voted on during its regular meeting Tuesday. Despite receiving performance evaluations of “Above Average” and “Excellent” from the Town Council, and despite initiating, supervising, and delivering projects such as Essig Park, a replacement animal shelter, a general plan update, an affordable senior housing development, and reforming employee pension and benefits, the Town Council has determined that Nuaimi has become “the focal point of a political divide in the community.” The separation agreement states that the Town Council and Nuaimi agree that his “immediate dismissal without cause is in the best interest of the Town.” Nuaimi will receive a severance agreement of eight months salary, of which half, or $63,333, will be paid within 10 days of his separation, and the other half being paid monthly for six months beginning 90 days after his severance date. In addition, Nuiaimi will receive medical insurance for one year, or until he obtains other employment.
