TIPS TO AVOID FOOD POISONING

It’s almost Memorial Day, a holiday that is often celebrated with picnics and backyard barbecues. Be careful about leaving food out for extended periods. Reporter Eric Knabe offers these tips to avoid food poisoning…

Experts say that over 100 million people in the U.S. will contract food poisoning every year. But there are some simple things that can keep you and your family safe. Make sure you wash your hands before handling food. Store raw meats away from other foods, below 40 degrees. Thaw frozen foods in the fridge, not on the counter top. When cooking, use separate plates for raw and cooked meats. Keep hot foods hot, and cold foods cold.
