THREE BOYS PLAYING WITH LIGHTER START FIRE IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

Three young boys are believed responsible for a fire in Twentynine Palms Tuesday evening. According to a Sheriff’s report, an 8-year-old boy and two friends found a lighter behind an apartment building in the 72300 block of Old Dale Road, and started lighting twigs on fire. One twig then caught an area full of brush on fire about 7 p.m. The fire grew and burned down a wooden fence and a small shed, threatening power lines and the apartment building before firefighters were able to put out the fire.
