This year’s 75th Annual Weed Show, hosted by the Twentynine Palms Historical Society, honored the past 74 years by using themes from previous Weed Shows for its categories. The People’s Choice winner was Star Bassion for her entry in the broken purple glass category. A Judge’s Favorite and first place winner in the category using museum-quality purple glass, was Cathy Snodgrass. Molly Vermette was also a Judge’s Favorite for her entry in broken purple glass, and a first-place winner in the category that required weathered wood. The third Judge’s Favorite was Dorothy Etz in the category that required accessories in three different colors. Pegi Feldman won three first place awards: in broken purple glass; for miniatures, 3 inches by 3 inches; and in the category using dried weeds and fresh plants. Pam Anders was also a multi-award winner, for 6×6 inches miniatures; and for using an accessory related to the Old West. Ted Meyers won two first place ribbons for the category using three accessories in different colors; and in the oversize category. Rita Vickery won first place in the category using a rusted old tool; Kira Rameson, for kids 8 years and under; Katelyn Meyer, for kids aged 9 to 12; and Scott Chatterton, in the category that was open only to past first place winners.
