THE PRICE OF GETTING WATER SERVICE IN LANDERS JUST WENT UP

Property owners in Landers and Flamingo Heights seeking to establish first time water service for a property—that is, service at a property that has never had water service in the past—can expect to pay almost $6,500 for the privilege. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has more…
Last night in Landers, the Bighorn Desert View Water Agency Board of Directors voted to increase the basic facilities charge to $4,595, a $95 increase based on the Consumer Price Index and the first increase since 2014. The service line installation charge remains unchanged at $1,785. Other miscellaneous fees were set as follows:
Insufficient funds will cost you $25; turning service back on after it has been shut off for non-payment will cost you $40; and an application for a variance will be $100.
In other actions, the board approved a three percent cost-of-living increase for agency staff. And following multiple workshops, reviews and deliberations, the board adopted an updated set of rules and regulations covering most all aspects of water service within the district.
