A mobile home was damaged in a fire in Twentynine Palms Tuesday afternoon. County Fire Battalion Chief Mike O’Bier said firefighters from Twentynine Palms, Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, and the Combat Center were called to a single-wide mobile home on fire in the 4500 block of Adobe Road just after 1 p.m. The single male resident was outside when firefighters arrived. The fire appeared to have started outside near the water heater closet. The American Red Cross was called to help the resident. The cause is under investigation.
A garage sustained heavy damage during a fire in Joshua Tree Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters were called to the 60800 block of Pueblo Trail in Joshua Tree at 1:36 p.m. by neighbors who said a garage was on fire with propane tanks exploding. Joshua Tree firefighters were first on the scene and found an attached two-car garage on fire with heavy smoke and flames. While waiting for back up crews to arrive, fire crews initiated a transitional response from an exterior attack to an interior one. When firefighters from Yucca Valley and Yucca Mesa arrived, they opened holes in the roof to limit the spread of the fire inside. The fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes. The garage suffered heavy damage but fire crews were able to limit the fire’s spread inside the home, and were able to keep flames from spreading to nearby vegetation and homes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters were called to a suspicious blaze in Yucca Valley Monday afternoon. Firefighters were called to a small vegetation fire in the alley behind a home in the 7400 block of Borrego Trail at 3:22 p.m. The 10-foot by 10-foot blaze was out by the time firefighters arrived. The cause is under investigation.
An outbuilding is a total loss in a fire in Yucca Valley early this morning. County Fire Battalion Chief Ken Halseth said firefighters from Yucca Valley, Yucca Mesa, and Joshua Tree were called to the 7800 block of Victor Vista Avenue at 5:15 a.m. The shed was fully involved with flames when firefighters arrived. There were no injuries. The cause is under investigation.
A Johnson Valley woman is homeless after a fire destroyed her home Monday morning. Firefighters from Yucca Mesa, Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, and a Lucerne Valley water tender crew were called to the 5700 block of Desert Star Road at 7:39 a.m. where they found the house fully involved. The female occupant was not home at the time of the blaze. The fire was knocked down in just over 10 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
