Two convicted felons were arrested Thursday, accused of being in possession of a firearm. Deputies were called to the 60700 block of Pueblo Trail in Joshua Tree about 6:30 p.m. Thursday where they contacted Christopher Sutherland, 39, of Joshua Tree, and Timothy Burleson, 36, of Yucca Valley. After an investigation, Christopher Sutherland and Timothy Burleson were arrested for being felons in possession of a firearm, and were booked into the West Valley Detention Center with their bails set at $50,000 each.
Three people were arrested in Twentynine Palms Sunday after they were found with stolen property and on other charges. Deputies were called to the 6200 block of Allen Avenue in Twentynine Palms at 1:38 p.m. Sunday because neighbors heard shots fired. When deputies arrived at the home, they discovered a stolen off-road vehicle. A search warrant was obtained for the home and deputies found three people hiding inside the house: Erik Edwards, 40, John Pratt, 39, and Kayla Shrewsbury, 31, all of Twentynine Palms. Edwards and Pratt both had active warrants for their arrest. During a search of the home, deputies recovered two stolen off-road motorcycles, multiple firearms, and ammunition. Erik Edwards was arrested for resisting arrest, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $50,000. John Pratt was arrested for investigation of operating a chop shop, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and receiving stolen property, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $75,000. Kayla Shrewsbury was arrested for investigation of resisting arrest, cited and released.
Deputies Saturday arrested a convicted felon for being in possession of a rifle and ammunition. Deputies received a call just before 8 a.m. Saturday about a car that matched the description of a vehicle seen during a suspected kidnapping that had been posted on Facebook the night before. Deputies searched their records and did not find any call had been made to the Sheriff’s Department about a kidnapping anywhere in the Morongo Basin. But deputies followed up on the call of the suspicious vehicle, and located it near Buena Vista Drive and Indio Avenue in Yucca Valley. Inside the car was Jeremy Harper, 34, who is on felony probation. During a search of the vehicle, deputies found a .22-caliber rifle and ammunition. Jeremy Harper was arrested for investigation of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and on several warrants. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000.
A Landers felon was arrested Sunday afternoon, accused of being in possession of drugs and a firearm. According to Sheriff’s reports, a Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at about 2 p.m. at the intersection of Balsa Avenue and Twentynine Palms Highway in Yucca Valley, the driver reportedly drinking and driving. The driver, Gloria Arredondo, 29, of Landers, and the unidentified passenger both provided false identification to the Deputy. During the investigation, Arredondo reportedly attempted to discard suspected drugs and paraphernalia. Gloria Arredondo was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and being in possession of methamphetamine for sale, and was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with her bail set at $50,000.
Charges were dropped against a Twentynine Palms man who was arrested earlier this month, accused of selling drugs. Frank Chapman was arrested February 13 at his home on La Luna Avenue, for investigation of possession of methamphetamine for sales and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The charges were dropped the next day and he was released from jail.
