We have limited information about an arrest on the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps base for arson. Deputies were called to the base about 12:30 a.m. where they contacted Chase Morning, 36, of Twentynine Palms. Chase Morning was arrested for investigation of arson and felony vandalism, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and released on a $100,000 bail bond with no court appearance scheduled.
A Morongo Valley man was arrested Wednesday, accused of assaulting a deputy. A deputy made a traffic stop near San Jacinto Street and Senilis Avenue in Morongo Valley about 9 p.m. The front passenger, identified as Robert Packer, 54, fled on foot. The deputy found Packer hiding in a bush, and Packer fled again, but was captured soon after. Packer assaulted the deputy as he was being handcuffed, giving the deputy minor injuries. The deputy used force to subdue Packer. Robert Packer was arrested for investigation of assaulting a law enforcement officer, and on multiple active warrants for his arrest, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $50,000.
A Yucca Valley man was arrested Wednesday, accused of trying to sell drugs. Deputies were called to the 58500 block of 29 Palms Highway about 5:30 p.m. where they contacted Ruben Minero, 40. Deputies located four bindles of heroin and a small bag of methamphetamine, consistent with sales of narcotics. Ruben Minero was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance for sales, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $50,000.
A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Tuesday, accused of being in possession of a stolen car. Deputies were called to the 6600 block of Smoke Tree Avenue in Twentynine Palms about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning where they found a stolen 2007 Chevrolet. Deputies contacted Anthony Romero, 46. After an investigation, Anthony Romero was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen vehicle and for an active arrest warrant, booked into the West Valley Detention center, with his bail set at $50,000. Darryn Murray, 39, was also arrested for investigation of being in violation of his parole. Darryn Murray booked into the West Valley Detention Center, and is being held without bail.
A Yucca Valley man was arrested Tuesday after he threated to hit another man with a baseball bat. According to a Sheriff’s report, Gilbert Mendoza, 31, drove to a home in the 7400 block of Cherokee Trail to buy drugs about 3 p.m. While he was there, he started arguing with another man, at which time Mendoza allegedly grabbed a bat from his vehicle and threatened to hit the other man. When the victim called deputies for help, Mendoza fled the scene but he was later located. Gilbert Mendoza was arrested for investigation of making criminal threats, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $50,000.
