SWARMS OF BEES ATTACK LOCAL RESIDENTS

Area paramedics have been called out three times in the last week for swarms of bees that have attacked local residents. On October 9, firefighters and Morongo Basin Ambulance were called to a Twentynine Palms home at El Rey Avenue near Cactus Drive where a 46-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man each received 40 to 50 bee stings. Their dog was also attacked by bees. MBA took the patients to a local hospital to be treated.

And just this morning, another bee attack was reported in the area of Sunfair and Tonto Road in Joshua Tree. Mark Wire was delivering propane in the area, and when he got out of his truck, he was attacked by bees. He told Z107.7 News he ran back to his truck, but there were numerous bees inside his cab. He said he was stung about five times.

Then yesterday, two women and a man were attacked by bees in Joshua Tree. Paramedics were sent to two locations: Sunfair Road, near Tonto Drive, and Third Street, near Sunfair Road, where they found a 46-year-old and 19-year-old woman, who had received up to 50 stings each, and a 54-year-old man with 5 to 10 bee stings.
