SUSPICIOUS MOTORHOME FIRE THURSDAY IN JOHNSON VALLEY

Officials are investigating a suspicious fire in Johnson Valley Thursday evening. According to County Fire Battalion Chief Donnie Viloria, firefighters were called to a motorhome on fire on Old Woman Springs Road near Larrea Road about 8:20 p.m. Viloria said the motorhome was completely burned down to the frame prior to their arrival. The fire is suspicious, he said, because the driver was not available to share what happened. A Sheriff’s report states that the older model Ford motorhome was on the shoulder of the road; a witness saw two men, described as Hispanics with a thin build in their 20s wearing hoodies, fled from the fire in a late model white Nissan or Altima westbound toward Lucerne Valley. The motorhome had dealer plates on it.
