An employee at a Yucca Valley restaurant was shot during an armed robbery early Monday morning. About 4:15 a.m. two men entered Castaneda’s restaurant, in the 56500 block of 29 Palms Highway and demanded money from the clerk. One of the men shot the clerk in the head; he was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs with what is believed to be a non-life-threatening injury. The men fled the scene. Sheriff’s deputies brought in a dog to track the suspects, who are still at large. Deputies are reviewing surveillance videos from the restaurant and nearby businesses.
