SUSPECT IN ARIZONA IDENTITY THEFT INVESTIGATION ARRESTED IN YUCCA VALLEY

A Yucca Valley man is in jail today on suspicion of identity theft. Local investigators followed up on an inquiry from Arizona Sheriffs about an Arizona resident whose name, social security number, and birthdate were being used by someone in this area to illegally gain credit. On Monday, a Morongo Basin Station Sheriff Deputy was able to track 29-year-old Derek Burnham to an address on the 8200 block of Tamarisk Avenue in Yucca Valley. Burnham was already on felony probation. A search of the premises turned up multiple credit applications and refusal letters using the victim’s identification. Derek Burnham was handcuffed and booked into Morongo Basin Jail for violating the terms of his probation and investigation of identity theft. His bail was set at $50,000.
