SURPRISE RESIGNATION FROM A MORONGO UNIFIED SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER

The Morongo Unified School Board got a surprise resignation yesterday. Reporter David Haldane says the board will bid long-time member Ed Will farewell…
The makeup of the Morongo Unified School District Board of Education is about to change. In a surprise announcement, 12 ½-year board member J. Edward Will said Thursday that he was resigning from his position effective August 1.
In a letter to the district, Will—first elected in 2003—said he was moving to Barstow where his fiancée, Amanda Winters, has accepted a teaching position beginning August 5. Because his term ends in December—four months from now—no special appointment will be required to complete it. Instead, district officials said, Will’s seat—along with two others—will be filled by a regular election in November.
