SUPERVISORS LOOK AT JOSHUA TREE BIKE PATH, 29 PALMS TRAILS TOMORROW

If all goes as expected at tomorrow’s 10 a.m. meeting of county supervisors in San Bernardino, more Morongo Basin residents will see improved access to hiking and biking trials in the not-too-distant future.
County supervisors are expected to approve two items likely to enhance local outdoor recreation on tomorrow’s consent agenda. The first is reconstruction of an aged bike path on Sunburst Street from the highway to the former Joshua Tree Elementary School. The estimated $300,000 needed for the project will primarily be split between the County Public Works and a Transportation Authority grant. Construction will take about four months beginning June 2019. And looking east to Twentynine Palms, supervisors are expected to approve an agreement granting access to the County Flood Control District’s right-of-way, thus paving the way for a city-financed multi-use trail system within Twentynine Palms.

Tomorrow’s meeting streams online and to the first-floor teleconferencing room in the County Government Center on White Feather Road in Joshua Tree where public comment may be made via live video link.
