STUCK BIG RIG CLOSES OLD WOMAN SPRINGS ROAD

Old Woman Springs Road was closed down in both directions for just over two hours Tuesday afternoon when a big rig truck making a U-turn got stuck. According to CHP Officer Randy O’Brien, the truck, which was hauling half of a mobile home, was northbound on Old Woman Springs Road when it had a flat tire near Linn Road just before 1 p.m. O’Brien said the truck pulled off to the shoulder and then attempted to make a U-turn on the highway when the truck became stuck in soft sand on the shoulder, and somehow the mobile home slid off the trailer onto the highway. O’Brien said another tractor trailer drove into the desert in an attempt to get around the stuck vehicle, and also got stuck in the sand. Traffic was blocked in both directions as the trucks waited for big rig tow trucks to arrive to pull them out and move the mobile home. O’Brien said the highway was reopened to traffic at 3:13 p.m.
