STATE EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR YUCCA VALLEY SEWER 5 YEARS

The state’s prohibition against septic discharge in Yucca Valley has been officially delayed. The California Regional Water Quality Control Board held a public hearing in Yucca Valley Thursday morning and extended the septic discharge prohibition dates to accommodate the construction schedule of the sewer project. The Board adopted Hi-Desert Water District’s current phase boundary map, approved conditions for the connection of deferred properties to the sewer project, and extended the prohibition deadlines to June 30, 2021 for Phase 1, and December 31, 2025 for Phases 2 and 3. Hi-Desert Water District is scheduled to break ground on the collection system for Phase 1 in July and should take about five years to complete this first phase of the sewer project. Phase 1 includes installing over 75 miles of wastewater pipeline, constructing a wastewater treatment and reclamation facility, and connecting over 4,000 properties to the system.
