It’s official: the speed limit in downtown Joshua Tree is now 40 miles-per-hour. The change comes after months of lobbying by residents concerned that the previous speed limit of 45 mph had resulted in dangerously fast traffic along Highway 62. Earlier this year, Caltrans narrowed the highway through Joshua Tree by carving out a dedicated bike lane and restriping parking from parallel to diagonal.
