SHERIFF’S PURSUIT BRIEFLY PUTS YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL ON LOCKDOWN

The Yucca Valley High School was on lockdown for a few minutes Tuesday morning during a Sheriff’s pursuit in the area. About 10:17 a.m., Deputies Bruce Southworth and Raman Singh attempted to stop a vehicle traveling westbound on Onaga Trail. The driver, later identified as Marcus Corona, 21, of Yucca Valley, took off toward the high school, driving at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour on the residential streets. The high school was locked down for less than five minutes as a precaution. Corona bailed out of his vehicle near the Gates of Spain mobile home park and ran into the desert where he was soon located and taken into custody by Deputy Jimmy Delgado. Marcus Corona was arrested for investigation of felony failure to yield and for violating the terms of his probation, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, and is being held without bail.
