SHERIFF’S ARSON AND BOMB UNIT INVESTIGATING CAR FIRE EAST OF TWENTYNINE PALMS

The Sheriff’s Arson and Bomb squad is investigating a car fire east of Twentynine Palms. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called to a location on Gold Crown Road about five miles south of Highway 62 about 7:30 p.m. Monday by someone who saw a fire and heard a loud explosion. The caller also said headlights were seen driving away from the fire. The deputy located a vehicle that had been destroyed in a detonation and fire. The Riverside Sheriff’s Department went to the address of the registered owner but were not able to make contact with the vehicle’s owner. The bomb and arson squad has taken over the investigation; anyone with information should call 760-366-4175.
