“SEUSSICAL, THE MUSICAL,” AT THEATRE 29 IS A FAMILY AFFAIR

The Broadway blockbuster musical, Seussical” opened to a standing ovation and full houses last week for a 5-week run at Theatre 29. Reporter Cody Joseph says this year’s summers production for the Morongo Basin’s premiere community theater is a true family affair…
The hit musical “Suessical,” based on the children’s books of Dr. Seuss, brings to life the characters generations have grown up with. The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie La Bird, Sour Kangaroo, and others are all on stage through July 28 at Twentynine Palms’ Theatre 29. More than three dozen volunteers have come together to stage this production. And a real family affair it is, with no less than eight area households having two or more involved. From the Schmellings and Pushkars with their whole nuclear families taking part, to the mother-daughter teams including the Wilsons, Shecklers and Hilderbrands, and the sibling duo of Kayleigh and Natalie Coughlin, to the husband and wife teams of Charles Harvey and wife Katherine Ferguson, and Gary and Cindy Daigneault plus 10-year-old grandson Quentin all bring this delightful story to life. “Seussical” tickets are $8 to $12, available at theatre29.org or by calling the box office at 760-361-4151.
